Je Tsongkhapa, whose ordained name was Losang Dragpa, was a great 14th century Tibetan Buddhist Master who promoted and developed the Kadampa Buddhism that Atisha had introduced three centuries earlier. His followers became known as the ‘New Kadampas’, and to this day Kadampa Buddhists worldwide study his teachings and strive to emulate his pure example. Through receiving the empowerment of Je Tsongkhapa we can draw closer to him and his teachings as presented in this modern world by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche.
The principal Guru Yoga of Je Tsongkhapa is Offering to the Spiritual Guide. Although the main practice is reliance upon the Spiritual Guide, it also includes all the essential practices of the stages of the path (Lamrim) and training the mind (Lojong), as well as both the generation stage and completion stage of Highest Yoga Tantra.
