Dealing With…

Buddha gives us powerful, practical and poignant teachings and meditations which help us to effectively deal with the difficulties we experience in daily life. In the following classes, based on Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s book ‘How to Transform Your Life’ we will look at these teachings and practice the meditations so that we can avoid suffering and experience peaceful and happy lives.

Tue 14 May: Dealing with Loneliness

Tue 21 May: Dealing with Criticism

Be Calm – June Classes

Do you find yourself caught up in daily dramas and then feel exhausted by the emotional turmoil?  We can’t always avoid the challenges in our daily life but maybe we can avoid the unpleasant feelings we often experience during those challenges. In this 4 week course we will explore Buddha’s teachings on identifying our problems correctly and finding inner solutions to the painful feelings that arise. Through familiarity, by integrating these methods into your daily life you will discover that you can be calm even when external conditions are not! Come for the whole course or for an individual class, either would be helpful.

This 4 week course is based upon Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s book ‘How to Solve Our Human Problems’.  You can buy this book at the Centre or from Tharpa Publications.  (It is also possible to buy as a download)

“Problems do not exist outside our mind, so when we stop seeing other people as problems they stop being problems.”

June 4:  Meditation and the Mind

June 11:  Identifying Problems Correctly

June 18:  Finding the Right Solution to Problems

June 25:  Meditation and Daily Life

Be Happy – July Classes

Do you ever wonder ‘what is happiness?’, ‘where is it to be found?’ We are searching for happiness all the time but are we clear what it is we are looking for?  We often think wealth, status, relationships are what make people happy but if we check many people have these things and still experience problems.  In this 4 week course we will explore Buddha’s teachings on understanding what happiness is and where it is to be found. Come for the whole course or for an individual class. Either could be helpful.

Through this we will begin to see that we can develop our own happiness through practising meditation.  In particular we can transform our mind from negative states to positive states through following the methods taught.

This 4 week course is based upon Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s book ‘How to Solve Our Human Problems’. You can buy this book at the Centre or from Tharpa Publications.  (It is also possible to buy as a download)

“If our mind is peaceful we will be free from worries and mental discomfort, and so we will experience true happiness.”
