Kadampa Meditation Centre Manchester is a place of peace and calm in the heart of the busy city.  KMC Manchester was first established by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche in 1992 and we now have two dedicated Centre’s.

Our city centre Temple

In the heart of the city centre at 125 Portland Street, just off Oxford road we have our city Temple.  It offers daily classes and has a shop with Tharpa Publications books, CD’s, images.  It also stocks meditation cushions, candles, incense and more.  The City Temple is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 11am – 5.30pm, Wednesday 11am – 4.30pm and Saturdays 10am – 4pm.

Our Chorlton Centre

In the leafy suburb of Chorlton at 76 High Lane, opposite St Johns Church, we have our residential Centre.  It offers daily classes, prayers and is the home of our vegetarian/vegan World Peace Cafe that is open wednesday – sunday 11am – 4pm.

We offer meditation classes at a variety of different times and different locations. They are open to everyone, regardless of beliefs of background and simply share tried and tested methods to calm the mind and develop a more positive attitude. Many people benefit from our classes and although they share Buddhist wisdom and meditation, many people from different faiths have found benefit from attending. Whether you simple want a short 30 minute de-stressing meditation session, want to learn more about Buddhist techniques for transforming your mind, or wish to fully embrace the Buddhist path, we have something for you.
The Centre is run by volunteers and dedicated students. Please feel free to drop in for a visit. During our opening hours there is always someone at hand who can answer your questions and tell you more about the Centre. You can check out the shop which sells books by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, prayer booklets, meditation CDs, Buddhist artwork and gifts. Or feel free to just enjoy the beautiful shrine and relax in our comfortable sitting and reading area.
